WILES, Richard Wyman – of Clio, age 89, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral service will be held at 12PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor James Brabson officiant. Burial at Montrose Township Cemetery to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Missionary Fund at Trinity Baptist Church, donate a plant to the family, or plant a tree in honor of Richard.
Richard was born on September 23, 1935, in Chesaning, Michigan, son to Matthew and Leora Wiles. For 80 years, he lived in Clio where he built two beautiful homes for his family along with many other homes he built during his lifetime. Richard married the love of his life, Shirley A. Wiles (Smith), at age 20, and spent the next 69 years building a life together. Richard and Shirley were faithful attendees of Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing.
Richard honorably served in the United States Army National Guard for 7 years and was a pattern maker at General Motors, retiring in 1994 after 30 years of employment. After retirement, he went on to build homes, bird feeders, bath houses, and many other beautiful items. His passion was working with wood, hunting, fishing, sand dunes, camping, cruises, spending time with family, and he also loved his desserts.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers, grandson, Daniel Firman, and granddaughter, Jenna Gullekson. Surviving Richard is his wife, Shirley; Five Children: Rick (Teresa) Wiles of Madison, Ohio, Tammy (Dennis) Firman of Petosky, Michigan, Roxanne (Bill) Gross of Davison, Michigan, Rob (Rahnea) Wiles of Clio, Michigan, and Sherrie Wolff of Naples, Florida; 10 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren. |
