Helen Dorene Blair, age 92, of Mayville, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2017 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.
Helen was born on March 4, 1925 in Brown City the daughter of the late George & Nettie (Muir) Muma. She graduated from Brown City High School in 1941 and married Warren Curtis Blair on February 10, 1951. He preceded her in death in 2008 after 57 years of marriage. They had one daughter Karen Lynn, born March 28, 1952. After graduation from high school, Helen worked at General Motors in Pontiac until her marriage to Curtis.
Helen loved her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her. She enjoyed their visits and they all called her GG. Helen's hobby was working. She enjoyed milking cows, driving school bus for 40 years, working at McDonald's in Deerfield after retiring from Mayville schools, and most of all, mowing her lawn on a zero turn SCAG Mower.
Curtis & Helen were members of Rich Bible Church for many years. Her recent church home was Country Christian Church in Deerfield.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Karen (Paul) Brown; granddaughters, Blair (Nick) West and Brittni (Josh) Walker; great grandchildren, Isabella, Keaton and Avery West and Kolt, Kenzy and Sawyer Walker; special niece, Sharyn (Duncan) McKenzie; and many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Dalton; two sisters, Ona and Maxine; one nephew, Russell Weyer; one niece, Judy Sayles; and her first husband Adam Stephen Gottler.
A funeral service will be held at the Mayville United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 7, 2017 with Pastors Roger Keur and Jerry Schrieber with Farmland Ministry USA officiating.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI and from 10:00 AM at the church until time of the service on Thursday.
Burial will take place immediately following the service in the Rich Township Cemetery.
